ILGA-Europe publishes its Memorandum to the Swedish Presidency of the EU
On 1 July 2009, the Presidency of the European Union is taken by Sweden for the next six months. Traditionally, ILGA-Europe presents its Memorandum to the EU Presidency identifying its expectations and setting challenges for the Presidency.
Valdas Adamkus, President of Lithuania, vetoes homophobic law
On 26 June 2009, Valdas Adamkus, the President of the Republic of Lithuania, vetoed a law adopted by the Lithuanian parliament on 16 June 2009 and which banned 'propaganda of homosexuality and bisexuality'.
