LGBTI equality and human rights in Europe and Central Asia

Brian Finnegan

Brian is responsible for the overall leadership of ILGA-Europe’s communications service area. This includes communications strategy and development, and management of ILGA-Europe’s communications channels such as media relations, publications, and digital and social media. 

Background 

Before joining ILGA-Europe, Brian was the Managing Editor of GCN, Ireland’s LGBTI community magazine, which is published by ILGA-Europe member organisation, the National LGBT Federation. He led GCN for 16 years, through a time of huge change for LGBTI people in Ireland, during which time he was a media spokesperson on LGBTI issues and wrote extensively in the national and international press. He is an ex-Director of the GAZE: The Dublin International LGBT Film Festival and served on the festival’s board for five years. He is the author of two novels, both of which deal with LGBT issues, and has ghost-written four autobiographies.
